Therapeutic Style

I’m a big fan of humans. I respect our complexity and our drive toward goodness even in the most difficult circumstances. I know that to work well on behalf of others I need to take the time to understand people, to see them as part of a bigger context, and to be compassionate, kind, and clear. When people seek therapy they have often bumped up against the limits of their own best thinking. We can use therapy to help people find new ways of seeing themselves and their world, new ideas about how to relate internally and with others, and new ways of going about their lives. We collaborate in the therapy space to support our clients in generating their own healing by making changes, increasing self-compassion, and dismantling the messaging of internalized oppression.

My approach includes:

  • A focus on attunement and collaboration with each client

  • A humanistic and systemic perspective

  • Attention and focus on societal and cultural influences, in addition to family history

  • Sensitivity to identity and the distress patterns that are a result of many different areas of internalized and culturally maintained oppression

  • Playful and embodied interventions

  • An orientation toward change

  • Individuals

Whatever your unique identity, we will work together to contradict your internalized messages of oppression and liberate you to be the person you are meant to be.

  • Relationships

Some of our hardest material is revealed and triggered in relationship. Attending to the needs of the relationship can help both the partnership(s) and the individuals to thrive.

  • Families

I can support families in finding healing to reduce conflicts, increase connection, and come together in new ways.
